Sunday at the Rose Bowl

Perfect weather for a walk-the-Rose Bowl-Flea-Market workout!  Pedometer in pocket, bottle of water, snacks, cash and camera ready to go.  This is the grand dame of all Flea Markets, open the second Sunday of every month in the Pasadena Rose Bowl. You never know what - or who (think celebrities!) you will run into so you need to go prepared.  I've been going for over twenty-five year since the days when you could find Arts & Crafts pieces and hope Barbra Steisand didn't beat you to it.  Ok, I never say Babs there, but I did see Gwen Stefani once!

Today I arrived late - 9 am - so had to park FAR away but that's ok, this is an aerobic activity. My starting pedometer is 560.  Wonder what it will be after 2 or 3 hours of shopping?!
Do you see the Rose Bowl WAAAAAAAY over there, past the cars?  That's what happens when you don't get there early with the real card-carrying die-hard treasure shoppers.

Walking with the crowds, you feel a part of something "epic" (word overheard), surrounded by old cars and new cars, white haired shoppers and tattooed shoppers alike.  We all bond over finding that elusive vintage BARGAIN!

Almost inside, the circus music is blasting and my heart is pounding!

The Flea Market is not just vintage, great deals abound on new purses, clothing and SUNGLASSES.  I make a quick stop and purchase a pair of knock-off Ray-Bans (left mine at home) for $3!
Then the serious shopping begins.  She looks more than intrigued.....sofa or lamps?  Get both!
 Table filled with well-polished silver.
Seriously, when did this old stuff became hip vintage?  This looks like my neighbor's house which was shabby not chic.  But this is the cool stuff at the flea market these days.  Maybe we are nostalgic for the decades before we were born and never experienced.  Just a theory.
Creative carrying on these stacking stools.  Love the vinyl seats - or are they NAUGAHYDE, the ever popular vinylesque/leatheresque fabric so popular in the 1960s and 1970s?
This table and chairs made me laugh, especially since the table priced at $600 and the chairs at $100 each, currently resides at my mother's cabin, a cast-off of my first department store purchased table and chairs.  Apparently now hip again.  Everything old is new again!
Now this is more like it! If I needed another chair, this would have come home with me - $125 for table and chair, great condition leather, wicker and cushion.

 Trays of silver.
Great wooden lounge chair - love the legs.
Copper bowl $120, too much for me but I do have a similar one at home.
 Great vintage tablecloths.
Lovely treasure laid out on the ground.  Hunting through them is half the fun, right?!
I was so busy taking the picture, that I didn't notice these AWESOME tie glasses!  Wish I had picked them up for a great Father's Day Dinner!
Whimsical table, great copper detailing and marble top.
Something for everyone.  Imagine this in a hair salon or ???
Vintage leather, shoes and clothing for MILES!
And then I saw them, Danish Demark China $65, a gazillion pieces with platters, soup bowls, and MORE!

Moving the price sign revealed the COFFEE POT!  Should I pay or walk-away?

Paid, packed them all in three large boxes that I managed somehow to stack on my rolling cart and left with my new TREASURES!  I can't believe the number of serving pieces.  Ode to these lovelies is to come.

The end of the day is just as fun as the hunt!  Great people watching as everyone leaves with their treasures.

Someone just chillin, waiting for her pick-up while sitting in her row of new found oak theater seats.  Wonder where they will go, in a home screening room or poolside patio?
Modern danish, the new hip vintage!
 Dri
Rusty fan and old stool waiting curbside for pick-up!
Vintage pick-up coming to the pick-up.

Finally pedometer reading - 8235 steps!  Great workout!!!  Way better than the gym!
